Friendly Visiting and Check-Ins

What is friendly visiting?

Many of our clients have difficulty leaving their home, due to cognitive or physical challenges and may go extended periods of time without seeing a friendly face. Home can be defined in many ways; some people live independently in a single family-home or apartment, others live in a group setting. Wherever home is, people need to have regular interactions with someone who is warm and engaging who knows and cares about them as an individual. It’s common that older adults find themselves unable to visit with friends or have friends who are able to visit with them. A “friendly visitor” is just that — someone who can be a warm and friendly presence and can spend time with your loved one in their living environment.

How can we help?

For those who are unable to leave their residence, we can provide a friendly visitor to check in and engage with your loved one. We can try many ways to interact with your loved one including:

  • Reading aloud
  • Listening to music
  • Talking about current events
  • Playing board games
  • Doing a puzzle
  • Having a snack together

The list goes on! We want to help older adults avoid social isolation, something that many people experience as they age. Please contact us to learn more about how we can offer your loved one!
